Monday Jan 28, 2019
Monday Jan 28, 2019
What forms our opinion of ourselves? This is a pretty tough question and one we don’t often take the time to consider. It starts with things in-grained deep inside us, the things we tell ourselves and have told ourselves during the course of our lives. And it shows itself to our friends in how we handle those weaknesses inside us, sometimes with self-deprecating humor which can end up doing more damage than good. So what do we do? We need to realize that we all have the ability to grow- at any time, all the time. Avoid the fixed mindset and embrace the ability we all have to change our lives one good decision at a time.

Thursday Dec 20, 2018
Perhaps one of the most important things I share with my medical students that rotate with me has very little to do with medicine. Instead it has to do with realizing the important things in their lives that support their desire to be successful in the medical field. Life can be a juggling act to try and manage all the things we have to do without "dropping the ball." And what we often don't realize is that those balls we're trying to keep in the air are made of glass, except for one. We'll dive into that today.

We don't often think about the positive effects of discipline when in reality discipline is the root of freedom. I will tell you a story about a jiu-jitsu fighter that knows just how this works.

You may remember from your science class the concept of inertia. It's the tendency of an object to remain at rest or remain in motion unless acted upon by an outside force. Today I want to apply that to your everyday life and look at how inertia can prevent us from having the life we truly desire. Inertia can prevent us from changing in the ways we know we need to change. But it takes an outside force and that's what I want to talk you about today.

Thursday Nov 15, 2018
It’s often been said that your mind will quit long before your body will meaning that you are physically capable of more than you think. Another way to look at your abilities is to see what you can do physically and let this drive the positive mental energy to take you to the next level.
